Ibrahimovic, 34, has confirmed he is leaving Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires this summer and has been heavily linked with a move to United, where he would reunite with his former Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho, with talk that he could form part of the coaching staff at Old Trafford.
At a news conference on Thursday, the Sweden international had praised Mourinho and added: "The future is already written. I have made my choice."
However, agent Mino Raiola has told Swedish newspaper Expressen that nothing has been decided and indicated that United are not currently his most likely destination.
Ibrahimovic has repeatedly said in the last year that his next move will be a "surprise" and Raiola said: "We haven't decided anything yet. I think it will be a surprise in the end.
"Everyone is just talking about United, United, United -- that's why I don't speak to anyone anymore because all the journalists are asking the wrong questions."
He added: "There are some clubs in England, some clubs in Europe, clubs outside Europe. Everyone assumes he must go to Manchester United, but that's not the case."
He said there was no need to conclude a deal before Euro 2016 gets underway next month.
"No, it's not important to get it done quickly," he said. "I only care about getting a deal done with quality. I'm not in a hurry. No one is running behind me and chasing me. It's about doing things at the right time. The only thing we care about is quality. We'll see what happens."

It had been reported in Sweden's Aftonbladet as well as Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that Ibrahimovic could act as Mourinho's assistant at Old Trafford, but Raiola played down the rumours.
"I don't think he could be anyone's assistant," he said. "You know what I mean? He could only be his own assistant. But if I was a very important person I'd want him to be my assistant."
Asked if Ibrahimovic could be Raiola's assistant, the Italian-born Dutchman replied: "Please, no. I would rather emigrate to the North Pole than have him as my assistant.
"I'd rather live with the Eskimos than have him as my assistant. He can only be his own assistant. Whoever came up with this story should start working for Walt Disney instead."
He said there had been a lot of inaccurate speculation about Ibrahimovic's situation.
"It's interesting that the less I say, the more fantasies it feeds," he said. "I don't say anything, and then I get to hear the craziest things.
"It just shows that this world has a constant need of stories. It needs news and it doesn't matter whether it's true. With social media, blogs, the internet and the constant news flow, it doesn't matter if it's true or not because it's still deemed to be news."
He also stressed that Ibrahimovic is not planning to retire after the European Championship.
"If I'm alive, the answer is no," he said. "If I'm alive that won't happen. The only thing I can guarantee is that he won't quit, but where he'll play next season I can't say anything about."
Sweden's largest morning newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, reported on Friday that Ibrahimovic will retire from internationals after this summer, citing unnamed sources.
However, the Swedish FA said the striker has yet to inform them about such a decision. Ibrahimovic has hinted in the past that Euro 2016 will likely be his last major championship, although he said on Thursday he has yet to decide whether to play for Sweden in this summer's Olympic Games in Brazil as well.
